The research group is currently working on two projects:

Both projects are funded by the Kronach Research Centre and generally serve the goal of strengthening business enterprises in the Kronach region.

HMI Research for User Centric Car Interiors – Climate and Temperature Systems –

Project duration: 01.01.2023 – 31.12.2024

The specific aim of the research project is to increase the conditions for the success of technical development projects of Dr. Schneider by including customer-related acceptance research by the ERUX research group at Hof University of Applied Sciences. The objectives are: the analysis and evaluation of climate control and the corresponding operating modes, analysis and evaluation of operating elements with regard to audiovisual and haptic feedback and a laboratory study on the feel-good atmosphere in vehicle interiors.

User Acceptance and Expectations for Low Speed Manoeuvring Systems

Project duration: 01.01.2023 – 31.12.2024

The research project is being carried out on the topic of “Acceptance, expectations and potentials of low-speed manoeuvring systems” and concerns the empirical investigation of acceptance and customer benefits of the “3D Surround View” system in various manufacturer variants. The specific aim of this project application is to increase the conditions for the success of technical development projects of Valeo Schalter und Sensoren GmbH as a co-operation partner.

The Human-Machine Interface (HMI) in the context of self-driving cars

Project duration: 01.01.2023 – 31.12.2022

In this research project, ERUX is working together with Valeo Schalter und Sensoren GmbH, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensor systems in the automotive industry. As part of the research project, the potential barriers to the acceptance of driver assistance systems are being investigated and which measures are suitable for promoting the diffusion process of new technologies. Ultimately, the question of how highly automated vehicles should be designed should not only be answered from a technical or legal perspective, but primarily from the customer’s point of view in order to ensure customer acceptance and thus the economic success of driver assistance systems in the future.

Valeo

Shuttle Model Region Upper Franconia (SMO)

Project duration: 01.01.2020 – 30.06.2022

In view of the high costs and low frequency of use in rural regions, the operation of local public transport is becoming increasingly difficult. The use of autonomous shuttles could be a useful addition to the existing public transport system, relieve the financial burden and also offer passengers greater comfort in the future.

However, the transition to (partially) autonomous systems will not be a smooth one, as passengers have doubts not only about the technical reliability, but also about the safety and handling of these shuttles. It is therefore important to gather the diverse impressions of the population during test operations and to find intelligent HMI solutions to allay the fears of potential passengers and increase their acceptance of the shuttles.

The project is a joint project and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
