The following research groups are currently working at the Institute:
Analytical Information Systems
Working on research topics in the field of data analytics and predictive analytics. A particular focus is the analysis of data collected in medical studies.
Research on the integration of the production lines’ embedded systems with the company-wide IT-system and evaluation of the transmitted and collected data, esp. for condition monitoring.
Digital Transformation in Economy and Society (DTWG)
The research group is dedicated to the social and economic effects and design options of the digital transformation. The research focus is thus on the overlapping area of social sciences, economics and computer science. The focus is particularly on topics such as the platform economy, algorithmic governance in companies as well as in politics, virtual reality, digital ethics and data sovereignty.
Empirical Research and User Experience (ERUX)
The ERUX research group carries out user-related market research projects. One focus is on the analysis and evaluation of digital systems with regard to their application and interaction possibilities from the user’s perspective. In addition, ERUX conceives user-optimised product and process designs as well as user-oriented human-machine interfaces, e.g. for (partially) autonomous systems.
The research group ‘innovative healthcare’ investigates the usage of digitalization technologies in the health and social economy as well as in the social world of work. Furthermore, they do research on how the utilization of digitalization technologies leads to new challenges in the preservation of the health of employees.
Intelligent and Learning Systems
The research group conducts research into the possible applications of artificial intelligence in various areas. This includes in particular the use of deep learning, e.g. in the area of image recognition and generation.
Interaction & Data Driven Design
In the Co-Learning Lab, the research group deals with methods and tools of digital transformation. Furthermore, machine learning is used to capture motion analysis processes and make them experienceable non-linearly in virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR).
Law in Sustainability, Compliance and IT
“Enabling innovative technologies legally. “
The aim of the research group “Law in Sustainability, Compliance and IT” is to enable innovative technology legally, while making things happen thanks to law and compliance and not in spite of. The research group Law contributes to the legal framework of IT and IP Law, with a focus on digitalization and Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, data governance, legal process modeling compliance and legal-and-ethics-by-design.
Multimedia Information Systems
Support of structured and unstructured data in information systems as well as search, linkage and analysis of such data with focus on the management of relational, textual and geographic data.
Supply Chain Digitization (SCD)
Innovative solutions for the digitalisation of the production process and supply chain management.
System and Network Security (SNS)
The research group deals with various topics of applied system and network security. Among the research topics of the group are software security, DDoS amplification, secure distributed systems, anonymization services, vulnerability assessment, and privacy.
Technical linkage of information systems by using service-oriented architectures and relating the contents to semantic technologies with the help of deep learning and natural language processing.
The research group “Visual Analytics” has its particular focus on intelligent user interfaces, fostering a close collaboration between human and machine. For doing so, they have built up an excellence on advanced hypertext technologies going beyond of what we know about the WWW.
